Tasting Notes for Guyana Single Cask 2003 TCRL

Nose: Demerara sugar, white fruits, elegant nose.

Taste: Straight and vegetal, cooked mango.

Finish: Peppery notes.

  • Distilled in Guyana in 2003, this unique rum has been filled into an ex-Bourbon barrel locally. It was distilled in pot stills from fermented molasses. This barrel spent a few weeks in Guyana before crossing the Atlantic Ocean to age nearly 16 years in the European climate before being bottled at its natural proof of 60.4%. There were only 251 bottles originally available from this wonderful single cask rum, so get it while you can.

  • Launched in 2016, 'Transcontinental Rum Line' is brought to us by the French retailer, LMDW (La Maison du Whisky) and aimed at seducing lovers of high-end rum. The colourful packaging is inspired by rum trader's trips between the New World and the Old Continent. Evaporation rates were found to be lower when barrels were matured en route, rather than in the hot Caribbean climate, hence the trips were considered to have an economic advantage.

Similarly, LMDW's bottlings are first aged first in a tropical climate for a number of months or years, then for up to 12 months or longer in Europe where the cooler conditions slow the maturation process. This edition is brought to us from the world famous Diamond Distillery in Guyana and is a limited edition single cask of only 251 bottles.
