  • Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin is as royal and spectacular in it’s lineage as the name suggests.
A triple-distilled neutral grain spirit, re-distilled in a traditional copper pot still; the recipe handcrafted in a time-honoured way. Derived from the ancient Indian knowledge of herbs; retaining the classic gin flavor of juniper berries, a refreshing twist has been added with hand-picked Indian botanicals. Of the 11 botanicals used in the distillation, 7 have been sourced from all four corners of India.
The Coriander and Vetiver, a complex spice with intriguing peppery notes, are grown in the fields around Jaisalmer in Northern India. The sweet orange peel, which complements the citrus and floral tones of the gin, comes from Central India. Cubeb Berries and Lemon Grass from Southern India, Darjeeling Green Tea leaves from Eastern India and Lemon Peel from Western India. Other botanicals include angelica roots, liquorice and caraway seeds lending a spicy, slightly anise-tinged flavour to the gin.
Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin is like an oasis in the desert, with an elegant refreshing finish that lingers long after.

  • Jaisalmer is made by Radico Khaitan, which today stands tall amongst the key players in the huge Indian Spirits industry, and was formerly known as Rampur Distillery which was established in 1943.

Amazingly, the batches of Jaisalmer Gin are tiny; it’s made in a traditional copper pot only 700-800 bottles at a time. Let that settle in for a second; A company that size, in a country with that many drinkers and only making their one and only gin, Jaisalmer, in less than a thousand units per batch. The reason they do this is so that they can monitor all aspects of the production process and really focus on the flavours.

There are 11 botanicals used in Jaisalmer Gin, seven of which were grown in India (and plucked from all corner of the country at that, with the north, south, east and west all well represented) coriander, vetiver, orange peel, cubeb berries, lemon grass and Darjeeling green tea and lemon peel. The remaining botanicals are the usual suspects – juniper (from Tuscany), liquorice root, angelica and caraway seeds.

It is famous amongst Indian culture to pass knowledge down through generations. Jaisalmer’s Master Blender, Anup Barik, comes from a family of blenders, so he used not only decades of his own expertise to create Jaisalmer’s unique taste, but several generations worth of flavour marrying knowledge as well.

The result of all of this is a fantastically well made gin and one that we are more than happy to recommend.
