Tasting Notes for Benrinnes 11 Year Old Single Malt - Artist Collective 2010

Nose: Absolutely remarkable! Notes of marmalade, rose petal, lilac and very ripe mango. When aired, the nose becomes spicy (pepper, cloves), camphor and even more floral (freesia, hyacinth, lime).

Taste: Starting exactly where the nose left off, the fruity distillate (pear, kirsch) evolves into flavors of frangipane, cocoa and tobacco which spread harmoniously around the palate.

Finish:  Very slightly tannic, the finish is marked by notes of prune, toast and beeswax. Sprinkled with nutmeg and chocolate chips, the finish also evokes a very high quality red tea.

  • Benrinnes 11 Years Old Artist Collective 2010 is a limited-edition Benrinnes single malt, released in 2021 as part of La Maison du Whisky’s Artist Collective series. The whisky was distilled in 2010 and matured for 11 years. It was finished in a first-fill sherry butt before being bottled at 48%. Benrinnes 11 Years Old Artist Collective 2010 is a mature and fresh whisky with a sweet, floral nose. The palate is rich and full-bodied with a fruity character, leading to a chocolatey and spicy finish. The label has been designed by Italian artist Stoz, whose work pushes the limits and highlights the power of colours and shapes.

The current distillery, at the foot of Ben Rinnes mountain, is actually the third in the history of Benrinnes. The original distillery was a few miles from the current location, and only lasted three years thanks to the 'Great Flood' of 1829. The distillery as we now know it was built in 1835 by John Innes, albeit under the name Lyne of Ruthrie until it was sold in 1834 and the name was changed back by William Smith & Co. This version of the distillery saw a long life, including a devastating fire that forced a refurbishment and an upgrade to using electricity, before it was fully rebuilt and renovated in 1955 by then owners John Dewar & Sons.

  • Since the dawn of time, artist collectives have been places of exchange, inspiration and creativity. In the same way, each of the single malts found in the La Maison Du Whisky Artist Collective range draws the richness of their 70 years of expertise in selecting the very best casks for small batch creations. Devoted to diversity, every region and every style of Scottish single malt, peated and unpeated, are represented.

The marquee release from LMDW Creations, this line is lovingly created with casks hand-picked in limited release for the discerning. Each release features a contemporary artist, drawing on their own personal experiences echoing the essences of the spirits. They have been bottled especially in the hopes that these expressions will delight, amuse, and inspire. We can attest that they certainly do that and this is one of our favourite ranges.
